First Sampling Campaign in new DFG project

August 15, 2025 / Dr. Ilka Schwittlinsky

The first sampling campaign in our new DFG-funded project “Carbon-Efficient River Restoration: Clogging and Microbial Pathways” took place this week at the rivers Isar and Inn.

Sergey, Martin and Sophie headed to the rivers Isar and Inn this week to kick off our new DFG-funded project “Carbon-Efficient River Restoration: Clogging and Microbial Pathways" with a field sampling campaign. The project will investigate microbial mechanisms in heavily degraded, clogged river ecosystems, to not only quantify carbon emissions, but also to understand their causes in order to manage them effectively.
