The Analytical Platform (AP), as a central service of the institute, offers state-of-the-art analytical methods for internal and external projects. In this way, it supports the institute’s highly interdisciplinary research, which ranges from basic research to applied science in the fields of biology, environmental chemistry, and process engineering/engineering sciences.
Chemical and biological analysis are essential for assessing and evaluating the state of our environment and the effectiveness of process engineering in the water sector. This is particularly true for emerging pollutants emitted by urban areas that can harm the environment.
The Analytical Platform (AP) specializes in particular in the field of water analysis. The following list provides a non-exhaustive overview of some of the parameters that are routinely measured:
- Physikalisch-chemisch: pH-Wert, Leitfähigkeit, gelöster Sauerstoff (DO), biochemischer Sauerstoffbedarf (BSB₅), chemischer Sauerstoffbedarf (CSB), etc.
- Nährstoffe & anorganische Stoffe: Ammonium, Nitrat, Nitrit, Phosphat, Sulfat, Schwermetalle (Pb, Cd, Hg, As), etc.
- Emerging pollutants: PFAS, Rückstände von Arzneimitteln und Hormonen, etc.
