Institute for Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Solid Waste Management (ISWA)

Scientists from various engineering and natural science disciplines conduct interdisciplinary research in the fields of urban water management and water recycling, waste management and biological exhaust air purification as well as hydrochemistry and environmental microbiology. The adaptation and optimization of processes and the development of new environmental engineering processes are the focus of interest.

Bundled even stronger

The "Central Services" department was established for cross-departmental tasks. In addition to the office, this includes the Teaching and Research Laboratory (LFL) and the Teaching and Research Wastewater Treatment Plant (LFKW) and is headed by the Managing Director. Thus, ISWA provides centralized services to the staff of the various departments in a bundled manner.
The LFL is a cross-departmental unit of the institute that handles internal and external analytical tasks and issues and conducts student internships. The institute's teaching and research wastewater treatment plant (LFKW), which is unique in Europe, offers excellent opportunities for practice-oriented research on a semi-technical and large-scale. The office supports the institute administratively, especially in project management and financial accounting.
